Looking Back on 2011

2011 was really the year of the blog.  I started Boston2Berkeley a few months after our cross country UHaul adventure.  This year has seen some great recipes, beautiful runs, and many adventures and friendships.

Some of my favorite posts of 2011:

Savory Stuff

Grilled Cheese with Apples and Mustard: My very favorite sandwich, eaten literally dozens of times over 2011.  I loved it so much I had to post about it again once I’d sort of figured out how to use my camera because it needed a prettier picture.

A Vegetarian Riff on Stovetop Stuffing: this recipe was absolutely key to maintaining family traditions while eating vegetarian.  Also, it further proved the point that really, there isn’t anything better than butter.

Cauliflower Macaroni and Cheese with Zucchini and Kale:  I still turn to this recipe anytime I want something cheesy but know that vegetables would be a better choice.  The neon orange cauliflower is key to achieving the child-friendly Kraft-like color.

Roasted Zucchini and Potato Mole Tacos: I was super proud of this recipe, as it took a lot of tweaking to come up with a mole sauce I liked.  Plus these tacos were vegan, gluten-free and delicious.  Win!

Sugary Stuff

Mini Molten Chocolate Cakes: Delicious, simple, gluten-free for the sister and tasty for the rest of the family.  Did I mention the molten chocolate?

Individual Apple Pies with Puff Pastry: The most visited blog post of the year.  Who doesn’t like a homemade apple pie with less than 5 minutes of prep time?

Cupcakes and Champagne: A Brunch Bridal Shower: so much work, and so many cupcakes!  I’m so glad a family friend reminded me to take pictures because “no one would believe how many cupcakes you girls made”

Running Adventures

3rd place

Race Recap: Mermaid Run San Francisco 5k: My first age group place!

Race Recap: Walnut Creek 5k: My 5k PR and sub 25 minute race!

My Running Story: the whole crazy long thing, from cross country to taekwondo to marathon training.

CIM Spectating: the best no pressure race morning ever.

Looking Back: A Recap of My First Half Marathon: The BAA half was my first and still favorite half marathon.  I’m glad I’d recapped it back in 2009 and glad I found the recap to share!

It’s been quite a year!  I’m looking forward to all the adventures that 2012 has in store.
